Laser therapy is used as a non-medicinal mode of treatment and has many therapeutic effects including relieving pain, inflammation, and swelling. Laser therapy also helps to speed healing and recovery after surgery, dentistry, and wound care.

Contraindications - uses to avoid
Laser therapy is safe and effective when used by a professional, such as your veterinarian, for its intended purposes. Contraindications are situations or illnesses in which laser therapy either has a negative effect, unknown effect, or just simply not advised, approved, or recommended for safety purposes. These include:
- pregnant pet
- Cancer or growth
- Actively bleeding site (unless bleeding stops)
- Areas in and around the eyes
- With or after steroid use
- pregnant technician administering the laser therapy
- Other common sense safety precautions may apply at veterinarians discretion
- Your veterinarian will let you know if there are others
